Onyx is a natural semi-precious stone, one of the agate family. Its remarkable quality is the ability to carry light several centimetres into the stone, which is why onyx interior surfaces are often backlit to reveal the depth and unusual structure of the material. The colour palette is rich and varied, from green and blue to pink and yellow, and every slab is entirely unique. Unlike marble, onyx is more resistant to chemicals, but it is sensitive to pressure and impact.
